It’s week three of Julie Hein’s Night Club lessons on Wednesday night. Beginners flipped Followers across (and not off!) and learned a weaving Promenade. Intermediates learned a Tango Corte, done with all the drama they could muster. Join us this Wednesday and find out what these terms mean, and also learn a few surprises to add to your Night Club repertoire.

What is your Modus Operandi? And how exactly can you reveal it in public and not get in trouble? Find out when Jill Popovich teaches this Friday, June 20. By revealing your “modus operandi” (and nothing more, please!!) you will learn how to move so all of your dances improve. You will move, look, lead and interpret the music better, and so much more.

modified: First SNC Food Drive

June 20: In addition to Jill’s “modus operandi” lesson, Friday, June 20, Swing’n’Country is having its first Food Drive, in support of the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. For each item of food you bring to the dance, you will receive $1.00 off admission to the dance that evening. There is a maximum of six items per person that can be used towards the cost of the dance. But please feel free to bring as much food as you can spare to help those less fortunate.

reminder: Express Check In For Wednesday Lessons

Express check in has just been made available. Download and fill out the registration form for June’s lesson. Present the completed form to the registration desk. Voila! You’re ready to warm up and have changed stand-in-line time to dance time!

Even if you can’t make it to a lesson, you can still buy the DVD and watch and learn what was taught. Orders can be placed at lessons, at dances, or by contacting Roger Peterson.

Wanted: Parade Marchers!

July 4: Friday. Swing’n’Country is marching in its first parade on Independence Day! Helping the Village of Oakbrook Terrace celebrate its 50^th anniversary, dancers will gather at 11 a.m. for the one-mile parade route. SNC will provide the music; you’re invited to provide the dancing! Free picnic for marchers! Contact Tina Reitz for details or to volunteer.

July 18: Friday. Swing’n’Country’s “It’s Too Darned Hot To Have A Picnic” Pizza Party. We’re moving our “picnic” indoors! Join your friends at the Centre at North Park for pizza, games and mid-summer frivolity. Oh yeah. And dancing!

June 21: Saturday. The Chicago Rebels hold a dance at The Centre at North Park, 10040 Addison Ave., Franklin Park. Lessons are from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm and are followed by open dancing until midnight. (map)

June 22: Sunday. Julie Hein hosts an afternoon party and dance at Ballroom City, 207 Villa Avenue, Villa Park, Illinois 60181, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The afternoon will feature a mix of general dancing, as well as a mini-Two Step lesson and a drawing for a free private lesson. (map)

June 28: Saturday. Brian Wong, editor of Chicago Dance News, hosts a Double Dance at Ballroom City, 207 Villa Avenue, Villa Park, Illinois 60181. Brian has figured out how to put on a fantastic mix of Country, Ballroom and Swing and provides a really cool pre-printed play list. Give it a try. Double Dance is held the last Saturday of each month. (map)

July 20: Sunday. “Dino Don” Tadeshi hosts a dance and buffet dinner celebrating his 65^th birthday at St. Zachary’s Parish Life Center, 567 W.
