Chicagoland—An
Overview: We’re
less than four days from Chicagoland. Hopefully, you’ve already registered (don’t forget to use Duck08 as a SNC member
to get your $10 discount), previewed the workshop schedule to decide which classes to take, and
made your room reservations. A
couple of notes for everyone to consider when planning this weekend’s events: ·
Parking at the hotel is $8 per night for all
Chicagoland attendees. At an O’Hare
area hotel, this is nice. So even if you decide not to stay at the ·
Competitions. The deadline for UCWDC Pro Am and
Swing/Hustle Pro Am was Monday night, August 11. If you’re still looking to
compete, Swing/Hustle Jack & Jill, Strictly Swing/Hustle (both Jack &
Jills taking place on Friday night), and UCWDC
couples all have deadlines of August 15. There’s still time to sign up for a
competition and have family and friends cheer you on. Please note with
regards to the Hustle Jack and Jill, that this is a
recently added competition at Chicagoland, and if you wish to enter, you will
need to hand write it on the registration form. ·
Speaking of competitions, the ·
The official Chicagoland after party. With three days of
activities behind you, if you still need to scratch that itch to dance,
SOS—Swing on Sunday—presented by May I Have This Dance, will have a party Sunday
night. Chicagoland attendees who show up with their wristband will get a $3
discount off the admission price. Everything
is now in place. With close to 40 workshops, a wonderful hotel to accommodate the
dancers, some of the biggest names in
the dance world teaching (Reigning UCWDC Showcase Masters Champions Sam and
Denise Miller, Jason Barnes and Erica Berg, Robert Cordoba & Deborah Szekely, and Ronnie DeBenedetta
are among the multitude of professionals coming in), hours of open dancing, a Friday
night pizza party hosted by a certain local club, and one of the best MCs in
the country, Jennifer Jeffries, you couldn’t ask for a better mix. Come out
and catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and dance with everyone you
can. We’ll
see you this weekend at the 2008 Chicagoland Dance Festival. One
more note… Hotel Reminder. Room nights make
ballroom space, workshop rooms and other amenities possible. The Crowne Plaza gives more things at less expense to Chicagoland,
the more people we have staying at the hotel, which helps keep event rates to
you lower. There are perks for |
