Home For the Holidays

We’ll be celebrating at our home venue on Friday night, December 5, at 6:30 pm.

modified: Tina Reitz, coordinator for our annual holiday party would really, really like you to get going and make your reservation so that dinner will be just what Santa ordered in the downstairs banquet hall of the Centre at North Park in Franklin Park. You’ll benefit too by saving $5 per plate when you register early.

Country Dancers on ABC Country Music Awards

November 12 – Wednesday: UCWDC dancers Rex and Rachel Jones, Toby and Harmony Monroe and Nicola Royston will be dancing in three routines choreographed by Robert Royston, including Taylor Swift's number as well as Kellie Pickler and Sugarland's performances. You might want to record the show while you’re at SNC’s Wednesday lesson with Jill.

November 21. Fresh from his month-long stint teaching Wednesday nights in October, Carlos Garcia is set to make another visit to Swing’n’Country. Carlos and his partner Alisa will be presenting their Two Step choreography at the World’s UCWDC competition in January.

November 21: Please bring new unwrapped toys to the dance on November 21, 2008 and/or the Holiday Dance on December 5, 2008. Toys for Tots was originated by the United States Marine Corps. The first toy donated was a Raggedy Ann Doll. Walt Disney was asked to create posters supporting this campaign and he designed the red train logo that represents Toys for Tots. Toys are needed for infants through teenagers.

Global Dance Television is brought to you by Ron and Tyoni Martin, directors of the prestigious U.S. Open. This the first internet television programming dedicated to dance.

Currently there are four hours of daily scheduled programming looping 24/7. Some is free and some is pay per view. Live coverage of the US Open Swing Dance Championships will be available. Visit Global Dance’s Web Site to download your personal viewer and get more information.

Did you Hear? Jill Popovich, currently teaching at our SNC Wednesday lessons, has made recordings for GDT. At lessons on Wednesday, ask her about her made-for-TV “dance notes.”

November 14: Friday. X Dance holds a dance at The Centre at North Park 10040 Addison Ave., Franklin Park, IL 60131. Doors open at 7:00 pm, with a lesson at 8:00 pm. General dancing runs from 9:00 pm until midnight. Please note that this is the only X Dance event in November. (map)

November 15: Saturday. The Chicago Rebels will hold a dance at The Centre at North Park 10040 Addison Ave. The pre-dance lesson is from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Carlos Garcia. Open dancing will follow until midnight. This will also be the Fourth Annual Playa’s Ball. (map)

November 28 - 30: C.A.S.H. Bash. Hilton Garden Inn. Twinsburg, Ohio. Brought to you by Cleveland-Akron Swing and Hustle Club. (details). This event would be a great road trip after those Thanksgiving dishes are done. Dance your mash potatoes and gravy right off!

November 27 – 30: US Open Swing Dance Championships. Marriott Hotel, Anaheim, California. MC is Robert Royston. The best of the best will be competing here! (details)
