Mike & Debbe Lapina
Debbe and Mike have been dancing for 25 years. They started their dancing
hobby in the early 80's at Arthur Murray's in Lombard, IL where they studied
ballroom dancing for 8 years. They then moved on to Fred Astaire Dance
Studio in Naperville, IL where they continued ballroom study for another 5
years. In 1995 they turned their attention to choreography and dance
exhibitions. They continue today to receive coaching at Diamond Dance Sport
in Worth, IL.
They joined Chicago's Windy City Jitterbug Club in 1992 and began teaching
for the club in 1995. They are presently lead instructors in the program and
teach beginner through advanced Jitterbug and also specialized workshops in
Swing and Hustle. They have had the pleasure of performing and teaching at
conventions in Nashville, Gatlinburg, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Hot Springs,
Tampa, Columbus, Cleveland and "Sweet Home Chicago".
On 9/24/2005 they were inducted into the American Bop Association Hall of
Fame at the ABA Convention in Hot Springs, AR.
